SEO Plugins on Wordpress

There are some plugins on wordpress which can use to optimize your blog in searching engine.

WP Parallel Loading System

The amount of people that will visit your website for the first time or visit with an empty cache or disabled cache is huge, therefore, the best your website performs on that first visit the more chances that person will remain to view your website.

It is also known that nowadays, Google (and other search engines), are taking into account, for ranking purposes, your website page speed. Google Bot does not conserve a cache when it visits your website, so, the faster your website loads the more chances you have to rank higher.

This plug will not change anything on your Blogs Posts. Every change that it makes will be processed in real time, right before the HTML code of your Blog is sent to the browser. There are however some changes needed on a few files, but the plugin will attempt to do everything by himself without causing harm to your files. For every file that he changes a backup is created, therefore, at any time, you can revert the changes back!

SEO Image Galleries provides SEO enhanced image galleries. ALT attributes and URL's can be customized to allow for keyword rich names, even without trying. The added gallery admin section allows the user to upload and organize unlimited galleries and images, customize all settings, etc.

The default version comes with two displays: a thumbnail gallery that is embedded in the page and an overlay version which pops the same thumbnail gallery out into a full screen view using an overlay.

The default version also comes with two skins. Every display will be skinable with CSS, including the option to add a skin within any theme folder.

Using RSS to Promote Your Website

You have the website, the product, and compelling content to attract readers to purchase your book, your CD, or whatever items you choose to sell. You may notice a surge in traffic as you build your site and employ various search engine optimization tactics, but are not wholly satisfied.

You know you can attract more visitors if you could just reach them. You have a weblog attached to your site, and you write wonderful articles which receive much praise. What else is there to do?
Have you considered syndicating your content and products to users with an RSS feed? Do you even know what RSS is?

Simply defined, RSS is an XML-based format. XML, for the novice, stands for Xtreme Markup Language, a special coding language that represents information for resources in the World Wide Web. Using the XML, one can permit the distribution, or syndication, of content to users who collect such data through specialized aggregators, or readers. RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication, and once you get used to the idea it really can be simple.

By creating an RSS “feed” (think of a news ticker on a cable network, providing up-to-date information in real time), one can distribute product content, articles, pictures, and even embedded video, audio, and links. This information is used to entice users to click through to the host site.

RSS allows a person’s computer to fetch and understand the information, so that all of the lists that person is interested in can be tracked and personalized for them. RSS differs from a traditional website in that the information is usually presented elsewhere. Say for example an Internet user has a personalize start page with My Yahoo! On this start page is information on various sports teams so the user can keep track of the playoffs. Yahoo allows the user to edit what information is displayed so only the information the user wants is visible. The user may aggregate information from various sports websites that offer RSS data, and place it on the Yahoo page.

When the user visits his start up page, he will see headlines from the many sports websites fed into the page. If there is a headline that appeals to the user, a click on the link will direct him to the site. Think of RSS feeds as puzzle pieces, brought together to create custom designs for Web users all over the world.

Sites that allow for the opportunity to generate updated, fresh content can benefit from offering an RSS feed. Whether you sell products or services, want to promote a new book or film, an RSS feed attached to your site can extend your site’s reach and increase traffic. Having an RSS feed attached to a site also allows for the opportunity to submit to RSS specific search engines, thereby increasing awareness of the site. As you research RSS, you may find there are feeds for just about every subject of conversation, from sports to movies, multi-cultural issues to religion. Shopping sites use RSS to advertise sales, while travel site promote discount airfares for frequent flyers. There is no limit to what you can promote with RSS.

Creating an RSS Feed

Now that you have decided to promote yourself and your products with RSS, it is time to create a feed and attract the traffic you want. Creating a feed is different from creating website. Though there is content involved, you do not need to worry much about presentation and design, as different RSS readers tend to presently only the text and links associated with the feed content.
If you are unfamiliar with hand-coding XML, it would be best to create your RSS through either special software or through a third-party website that creates and hosts feeds. A quick Internet search on “RSS builders” and “RSS host sites” will lead you in the right direction.

If you have a weblog with a third-party host, you may note that this content is already being syndicated. If so, you may want to consider changing the focus of your blog to better sell your products, or create a second feed for better sale emphasis.

Once you have decided on the method of production, it’s time to produce!

Writing RSS content can be likened to ad copy. You want to use attention-getting headlines that will entice readers to click through to your site. As some RSS readers display only the headline rather than an abstract of the content, you want to be concise and compelling. “Save now on special purchase,” “Buy one, get one free!” Make the reader want to click to read more.

Depending upon the RSS aggregator, the reader will immediately click-through to your site, or be taken to your RSS content. Either way, it is important that all clicks eventually lead to the point of sale. Keep RSS posts short and direct. Tempt the reader to click through to your site to learn more about buying your book, CD, or product. Link to the sale page rather than the home page so a reader won’t become frustrated with having to navigate your entire site. Hot link a photo of the item using the IMG tag to give your feed an attractive look. If you use an RSS software or third party site, you may be able to use such coding, be sure to check.

Promoting with an RSS Feed

As search engines become more adept at collecting information, they are devising new ways to get this data. Some engines, like Google, have special spiders that mine the Internet solely for RSS-based information. If you want your RSS feed to be found, whether you host it on your site as an RSS or XML file, or host through a third party website, you will need to have the URL of the feed on your front page so people can subscribe to it.

Clicking on the link will not open the feed like a website, but depending upon the browser being used to view the feed it may take the user to an option that allows him to save your feed’s information. A quick Internet search on RSS tutorials will give you a special code you can put on your site to alert spiders to your feed, too. Also, there do exist RSS search engine where you can submit your feed for inclusion.
The one advantage to having an RSS feed is that what content you provide remains available to users who find it during search. To improve the likelihood of traffic increases, add to your RSS feed regularly, advertising all news and specials related to your books, music, or services. Your ability to prove Internet savvy can attract a new audience to your site, and in turn improve your sales.

Free Traffic for Your Blog

You have to know that the most monetization methods require some traffic. So, even if many of you know how to drive free traffic to your blogs, I want to make a little recap, for those of you who just have started. I want to mention that every method listed here, was tested by me, so I know what I’m talking about.

This list is ongoing, because while I was writing this article, I have found some other sources of free traffic, like free advertising. So after I make some tests with them, I will write about them (or not).

1. Social networking sites
There are a lot of social networking websites around the web, and I don’t want to list them all, since Maki from DoshDosh has completed a great list of 47 Social News Websites You Can Use with a little review for everyone. Now, it’s a little hard to subscribe to all this social websites, especially because not every one brings a lot of traffic for your blog. I haven’t tried all these social websites listed by Maky, but I’ll list what I’ve tried with pretty much success. For those social networking sites I’ll list here, I’ll also get some traffic dates, so you can have an image about them.

a. StumbleUpon
By submitting your articles to StumbleUpon, you will receive a lot of traffic. But it’s a kind of traffic easy come, easy go. I mean very few people will actually stay on your blog and read your articles. Still, this traffic is good for increasing your Alexa traffic rank (required for some pay per post programs) and it’s good for CPM (abbreviation for cost per mille, which means cost per thousand page impressions) programs.

b. Digg
All you need is to sign up in order to use it. When you like a page, you can submit it, so it will appear in the upcoming sites section. If other people like it and vote for it (digg it), your story may be promoted to the front page, bringing you tens of thousands visitors over the following hours.

c. Del.icio.us
Del.icio.us can help you keep your bookmarks online. If many people bookmark the same page, it goes to the front page, resulting in a lot of traffic.

d. MyBlogLog
Using MyBlogLog is easy. You must subscribe, put your face in there, put a widget on your blog, and then you’ll be able to see who is visiting your site. Your blog will become a community. Other people will be able to subscribe to your community. Similarly, you can subscribe to other communities. It can bring some additional traffic to your blog, but don’t expect it to be huge.

e. BlogCatalog
As a member of BlogCatalog you can make as many friends you want. About 30-40% will visit your blog to see who you are and what are you writing about and add you as their friends as well. To those who added you as friend, you have the possibility to send broadcasts (mass messages send unobtrusively to all users who have added you to their BlogCatalog friends list). You can also participate to discussions. There are many groups where you can participate and become an active member. The traffic from BlogCatalog isn’t so huge like the traffic from StumbleUpon, but the visitors stays longer on your blog, and, why not, maybe even subscribe to your RSS feed.

f. BloggingZoom
BloggingZoom is pretty new on the Blogosphere but its growing fast. You can promote on BloggingZoom all your articles, without any limitations. You can vote for other articles and in exchange, many users will vote for yours. And visit your blog.

g. LinkReferral
By joining LinkReferral, you will be included in the members’ directory which is visited by over 140,000 members, and thousands of outside visitors on a daily basis. You’ll have the opportunity to earn a ranking at the top of your category, just by visiting a maximum of 30 sites and making 5 reviews in a 24 hour period! You can receive valuable feedback from visitors of your website, network with your peers, and give your opinion on other websites in the directory. The more you participate, the more traffic you will get.

2. Forums
By participating on forums, you have the chance to receive a lot of free traffic, as well as inbound links. On many forums you can ad your blog as a signature and also many forums will show your last post. Now, there are a lot of forums on net. All you have to do is to choose the right forum for you, even if there are general forums or niche forums and to be an active member. I will list here some known forums.

a. Digital Point
Digital Point is one of the most active forums for webmasters, where you can talk about search engine, marketing, business, design and development, products and tools.

b. DeviantART
It’s a community of artists and those devoted to art. You can discuss about digital art, skin art, themes, wallpaper art, traditional art, photography, poetry/prose, art prints.

c. SitePoint Forums
SitePoint forums are for webmasters and you can discuss about design, CSS, XHTML, PHP, Ruby, JavaScript, affiliate marketing, ASP.NET, promotion.

d. Search Engine Forums
On Search Engine Forums you can discuss about search engine optimization techniques and search engine marketing industry.

 e. Digital Photography School Forum
It is, obviously, a forum for Photographers where you can talk about digital camera reviews, digital photography techniques, tips and advice and you can share your photos that you require critique on.

f. Bloggeries
Bloggeries is a forum especially for bloggers. You can receive reviews for your blog. You can find here great resources for a blogger, especially for a newbie one, like useful plugins, how to promote your blog, how you can make money online, free blog templates and wordpress themes, discussion about podcasting and much more.

3. Comments

Commenting in other blogs is another source of free traffic. Many people will return “the favor” and will leave a comment on your blog. Of course, you must leave some meaningful comment, not “it’s nice”, “interesting” etc. You have more chances to receive traffic and comments by commenting on small blogs. People will be always happy to see that someone is commenting on their blog. People who run big blogs don’t have time to answer to 100 comments, for example, and to visit all the commenter blogs.

4. Free advertising

a. Entrecard is a free exchange network for 125×125 ads. Through this platform, you can advertise your own 125×125 Entrecard on any blog in the network, for free, for a number of days. You pay for this advertising with Entrecard Credits, that you earn for free by visiting blogs and dropping your card for other bloggers. If your blog is new, just launched or you have low traffic, Entrecard is a good way to drive traffic to your blog and to get known. You don’t have to work too hard for this and you can advertise on high traffic blogs without spending any money.

b. I will complete later this free advertising list, after I’ll test some free advertising programs.
